The game "Guess who?" is perfect for stimulating the use of a language through questions and answers. For those that are not familiar with the game, it consists on guessing who is the character that the other player got through questions that help to discard characters until you discover who is the character that your partner has. The fact that students have to ask questions and answer them, helps to improve the learning of basic vocabulary that students will incorporate to their language knowledge.
The game can be used with early learners. It can start to be used in 1st grade but it's very important to model the use and the rules of the game many times and very clearly until the students can use it on their own. Modeled in the right way will make students understand the goal of the game and how its played. I used it in a 1st grade Spanish immersion classroom with English speaking students and once the students dominated the use of the game correctly, it worked very well. The game comes with a couple of cards with questions and pictures that will make the task easier for the students in the early stages of learning the new language.
Its usage is perfect as a center and works great as an activity at the end of a class. Only 10 minutes are necessary for the game to be useful.
You can download a version of the game in the "Resources" section. You can find it in 4 different languages. You can also download it here. ESPAÑOL -- GALEGO -- ENGLISH -- CATALÀ
